Incorporating technology into a law practice can make the practice more efficient and increase client satisfaction. In fact, technology may enable the practitioner to exceed client expectations”

— K. Todd Wallace, Attorney in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA, UNITED STATES, October 31, 2018 / — In this second published article in his series, Louisiana-based business attorney K Todd Wallace discusses the advancements and impact of technology upon the legal profession, and how it is being utilized to enhance the client experience in terms of satisfaction and customer service. As technology reshapes all of modern personal and professional life, the legal profession is no exception.

This article focuses on research and document management. The complete article will be published on the blog of K. Todd Wallace at

As technology is advancing, the legal profession is not exempt. Incorporating technology into a law practice can make the practice more efficient and increase client satisfaction. In fact, technology may enable the practitioner to exceed client expectations. Here are a few, simple-to-implement options.

Research Efficiency

The internet has placed all of society’s information at one’s fingertips, and again the legal profession is not exempt. The speed of research has dramatically increased. An attorney can analyze a legal matter much more quickly without even leaving the desk. However, that is what clients expect nowadays – instant results.

There are a few tools that can make your job easier. For example, many cases and articles are available for free on Google Scholar ( or on Findlaw ( Most courts post their forms and cases on the Web, reducing search time to minutes and saving you a walk to the courthouse.

Coming back to smart phones, many attorneys today use them even for legal work. A 2016 survey conducted by the American Bar Association found that 88 percent of respondents used smart phones for law-related work. A fifth of them were using research apps, and those numbers have undoubtedly surged since.

To make your law practice more efficient, subscribing to multiple industry-related blogs and news outlets may deliver relevant information right to your email inbox. In turn, you may be able to tailor valuable information to specific clients and send them a proactive communication.

The Cloud/On-Line Repositories

There are many ways to incorporate a secure document repository in your practice. Online document management providers offer some limited client document sharing and also offer full-scale extranets as an add-on. There are many options and price points for achieving the logical benefit of client document repositories.

Web-based software enables a firm’s documents to be securely stored in “the cloud” and provide accessibility from nearly any location. The safety of such storage systems has increased greatly, and allows you to have remote access while on the road or working from home.

For example, you can set up a system whereby the lawyer uploads the documents he/she wants to share with the client and the client accesses them via a secure log-in.

Todd Wallace concludes that the benefit to the client includes having all the documents for a matter in a single repository, accessible at his convenience, with the lawyer taking responsibility for document management. One can update or replace the documents as needed, thus eliminating concerns over versions. Popular examples include and

To be continued. – The complete article will be published on the blog of Kenneth Todd Wallace at

U-Are Technologies Research Brief: Artificial Intelligence in Health Care.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, October 31, 2018 / — Scientists and researchers all over the world are very excited about advancements in innovation that have arisen from an innate desire to create newer and better technologies that facilitate mankind to extend beyond its own physical constraints. The promise of AI, once purely science fiction, promises much. Since its inception, AI has been deployed for highly selective defence or space exploration applications wherein its success has evolved around risk mitigation.

Many industries are about to be disrupted by this evolving technology. At U-Are Technologies, we are highlighting how AI can be applied to the healthcare industry through AI-based systems that allow for better diagnosis, cure and treatment of debilitating conditions.

Scope of AI in medicine

Increased integration of intelligent AI tools (along with AR and VR) in everyday medical applications could improve the
efficiency of treatments and avoid costs by minimising the risks of false diagnosis, facilitate more targeted pre-operative planning, and reduce the risk of intra-operative complications.

The recent usage of AI in performing sophisticated tasks and computations has gradually led it to be introduced as a key component of MRI and computed tomography systems (CAT Scans). The added advantage of these systems is in the ability to effectively acquire information, and sync with established decision support databases such as those containing patent history. Further, AI has begun transforming the field of surgical robotics where it has enabled the advent of robots that perform semi-automated surgical tasks with increasing efficiency. As the technology matures, it is over coming one of the key challenges faced in robotics which is mimicking human body motion. In addition, recent advances in the field of AI such as neural networking, natural language processing, image recognition, and speech recognition / synthesis research, has started to spur creativity. Pairing this technology with Augmented Reality, the future of robotics within the medical sphere looks very bright indeed.

Smart AI apps are beginning to be used today in clinical practice for automation of routine tasks and for other functions listed below:

Alerts and reminders are most general forms of AI integration: The machine scans a patient’s lab results, drug orders, and updates the patient with an appropriate reminder. Advanced AI programs can be directly interfaced with a patient monitor and used for detecting changes in a patient’s condition.
Diagnostic Help.

Therapy fore-planning: Specific conditions that require elaborate treatment plans could benefit from AI tools during therapy planning. By incorporating an AI system that can automatically formulate plans based on specific conditions would add certain value to the physicians as well as patients.
Information Retrieval: AI software search apps can be created that constantly search the web for new knowledge or data that adds to diagnosis. All information is upgraded automatically here.
Image Interpretation: Multiple medical images can be instantaneously identified, from plane X-rays through to highly complex images like angiograms, CT, and MRI scans. Such systems for image recognition and interpretation have increasingly been adopted for clinical use, for example in detection of cancer or other abnormalities.

Insights on current systems using AI

Agilent Technologies (Andover, Massachusetts) has developed a smart ECG device that estimates the probability of acute
cardiac ischemia/ACI. This ACI time-insensitive predictive instrument holds good promise in increasing the accuracy of diagnosing ACI.

Intelligent Medical Imaging, Inc. (Florida) has designed the Micro21 microscopy workstation that successfully integrates neural network technology into blood analysis to identify and display white blood cells as well as red blood cells.

ATL Ultrasound, Inc. (Seattle-based firm) has developed a range of diagnostic ultrasound systems for imaging and monitoring cardiac tissue structures and activity. This system utilises an adaptive intelligence algorithm to scrutinise tissues by optimising millions of parameters during a patient examination, thereby eliminating irrelevant frequencies in returned signals.

Neuromedical Systems, Inc. (New Jersey) uses an application of neural networks to scan Pap smears and identify cells for review during cancer screening.

Apps like Babylon in the UK use AI to give medical consultation based on personal medical history and common medical knowledge. Users report their symptoms into the app, which uses speech recognition to compare against a database of illnesses. Babylon then offers a recommended action, taking into account the user’s medical history.

The startup has developed Molly, a digital nurse to help people monitor patient’s condition and follow up with treatments, between doctor visits. The program uses machine learning to support patients, specialising in chronic illnesses.

Developing pharmaceuticals through clinical trials can take more than a decade and cost billions of dollars. Making this process faster and cheaper could change the world. Amidst the recent Ebola virus scare, a program powered by AI was used to scan existing medicines that could be redesigned to fight the disease.

The program found two medications that may reduce Ebola infectivity in one day, when analysis of this type generally takes months or years – a difference that could mean saving thousands of lives.

Some of the key influencing factors like maturity attained by the AI systems, user acceptance, and glitches in
communications along with technical infrastructure continue to stand as barriers to the commercialisation opportunities that currently exist for AI. However, given that ongoing innovations in this domain are moving so fast from academia and theory into reality are proof of the growing momentum in this field.

Call for collaboration:

At U-Are Technologies, We are in the business finding and applying future technologies to real world problems through immersive, visually rich solutions that engage users and drive customer satisfaction. The next hot workplace technology? Voice masking from Talk Technologies becomes a must-have for global companies

Voice masking technology becomes a popular solution to reduce noise distractions and protect speech privacy without impacting office aesthetics

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, USA, October 31, 2018 / — Talk Technologies, the world's largest provider of voice masking technology, announced today a long list of leading organizations who have deployed their Steno SR, voice masking technology including; U.S. Army Inspector General- Pentagon, U.S. Naval Justice Institute, National Guard Counterdrug Task Force, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, NYC Department of Education, Ohio State University, Kaiser Permanente Healthcare, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, British Columbia Legislative Assembly, Australia Council for the Arts. Voice masking technology helps protect speech privacy, reduce noise distractions, and increase acoustical comfort in offices by making human speech unintelligible. The Steno SR product line includes voice isolating technology for superior noise cancellation, speech privacy and anti-eavesdropping solutions, resulting in unequaled acoustical privacy and comfort for today's open offices and public spaces.

Sounds, particularly those made by other humans, rank as the No. 1 distraction in the workplace. According to workplace design expert Alan Hedge at Cornell, 3 out of 4 of workers say they face “many” instances of disturbances and distractions from noise.”In general, if it’s coming from another person, it’s much more disturbing than when it’s coming from a machine,” he says, because, as social beings, humans are attuned to man-made sounds and overheard conversations draw attention away from tasks at hand.

With over 70% of offices now open plan and little to no worker segregation – think of all that lost productivity.

Steno SR keeps voice communications and transcriptions completely private and silent. It becomes a personal sound booth when used in conjunction with noise cancelling headphones. The U.S. military has been using this technology for over seventy years and it is now finding it’s way into today’s open offices and public spaces. Compatible with computers, phones, tablets and all speech recognition software, it is an affordable solution to a costly problem.

VIZpin Launches Certified Installer Program to Support National Accounts

The Certified Installer Program was developed in response to the steady growth of national Quick Service Restaurants (QSR) & Retail clients VIZpin has acquired.

The new Certified Installer Program will let those companies make money from the electric lock installation, while becoming comfortable with VIZpin.”

— Wendi Grinnell, Vice President

LANCASTER, PA, USA, October 31, 2018 / — VIZpin, designer and manufacturer of the VIZpin smartphone-based, Bluetooth enabled access entry system, has announced the launch of the company’s new VIZpin Certified Installer Program. The Certified Installer Program was developed in response to the steady growth of national Quick Service Restaurants (QSR) and Retail clients the company has acquired since being established in 2016.

VIZpin systems are typically installed by VIZpin Certified Partners. However, due to unanticipated demand for the simple, affordable Smartphone Access Control solution, the company has a growing number of national QSR and Retail clients with locations in areas where Certified Partners have not yet been established.

The VIZpin Certified Installer Program will provide locksmiths and low voltage contractors with the knowledge they need to install VIZpin systems without having full partner certification. In addition to maintaining necessary licenses and insurances to install electric locks and low voltage systems, VIZpin Certified Installers will be required to complete online training and to pass a test annually, at minimum.

Certified Installers’ primary responsibility will be to ensure that 12VDC electric locks are installed, operating correctly and in compliance with local codes. Then, they must simply connect VIZpin controllers to the electric locks. The VIZpin controllers will ship pre-configured from the factory, so the installation will require only four wires and two screws.

“We’ve had many companies that are interested but uncertain about becoming a Certified Partner,” comments VIZpin Vice President Wendi Grinnell. “The new Certified Installer Program will let those companies make money from the electric lock installation, while becoming comfortable with VIZpin. If they later decide they want to also make money selling the VIZpin controllers and service, we will make it easy for them to upgrade to Certified Partner status.”

In recognition of the DHS National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (October 2018), Quince Orchard High School hosted the Stop.Think.Connect presentation.

(Gaithersburg, MD. October 25) In recognition of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Quince Orchard High School hosted the cybersecurity awareness presentation “Stop.Think.Connect”. Contributing to this presentation was Nenette Day, Assistant Special Agent with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Scott Rebein, Licensed Private Investigator with SFR Consulting & Advisory, and Ed Samuels, Chief Technology Officer of Auxilium Technology. Together these presenters provided their extensive experience and knowledge in areas of cybersecurity to help students better protect themselves against pervasive digital threats. National Cyber Security Awareness Month is a national initiative that helps build awareness among the public for digital safety and security.

Keeping Students Safe

Students attending the presentation learned about best practices in digital security as it relates to their daily use of social media, websites, and devices. The mission of the presenters was to speak directly to the specific digital threats posed to high school students and provide measures that they can take to minimize vulnerability and exposure.

The presentation developed by Auxilium Technology took a holistic approach to cybersecurity, covering issues of both technical and social nature. Topics covered ranged from social media etiquette, mobile device security, to address the pervasive threat of identity
theft to youth today.

Each presenter provided insights based on their respective areas of expertise, and in general, contributed to each topic of discussion. Special Agent Nenette Day spoke about her experience in investigating threats on social media posed by falsified accounts that prey on students and forge their identities. Private Investigator Scott Rebein spoke to the importance of online reputation management and the necessity of being aware of your digital footprint. Moreover, Auxilium Technology's CTO Ed Samuels provided knowledge in technical practices for securing your information on devices and websites, and vulnerabilities.

The presentation also featured a question and answer portion that allowed students to pose questions to each presenter. Audience members were able to ask questions of specific interest to them, such as number versus pattern lock device security. Questions about Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and the dark web were of particular interest to audiences’ members. Students were able to engage in conversation with presenters and take away valuable information that can help them in their daily lives.

Building Awareness and Interest

Another objective of this presentation was to provide insights into the professions linked to the cybersecurity industry. Auxilium Technology supports interest in areas of study related to Science, Engineering, Technology, and Math (STEM). The growing demand for professionals in the field of cybersecurity means promising career opportunities await students who focus on those areas of study. In support of Project Lead The Way, an organization that promotes and educates students in STEM-related subjects, "Stop.Think.Connect" seeks to manifest interest in the fields that support cybersecurity. In generating interest in these critical fields, Auxilium aims to expose students to new career possibilities, and secure our digital safety going into the future.

Giving Back to The Community

Auxilium Technology has an established reputation for education and awareness in matters of cybersecurity, which includes contributions to National Cybersecurity Month in previous years. As a leader in digital marketing, Auxilium possesses extensive knowledge and experience in digital best practices. In providing this education as early as high school, students can ensure that their information and reputation is safe going into adulthood.

When asked about why Auxilium contributes time and resources to this cause, CTO Ed Samuels states: "At Auxilium, we understand the complex nature of these digital threats. Unfortunately, our youth/elderly are most vulnerable to these threats and are a focus for cybercriminals. That's why we chose to develop this cybersecurity presentation specifically for high school students.
