BETR Releases New App Design With Fresh Interface And Simple Navigation

BETR, a decentralised suite of applications which enable peer-to-peer sportsbetting, has released a new client version of their sports odds web app

TALLIN, ESTONIA, December 14, 2018 / — BETR, a Blockchain-based suite of applications has released a new client version of their sports odds web app Users can bet against one another using the BETR token which is available on cryptocurrency exchanges.

In June 2018, just in time for the World Cup, BETR released the initial version of the unique system, providing one of the first mechanisms for two parties to bet on blockchain, using secure smart contracts.

Since then, more sports and functionality has been added including in-play betting and enhanced wallet features. Keen to respond to user feedback on the design and user experience of the apps, BETR continued development on a new release of the web app.

The clean, fresh interface focuses on simplifying navigation, improving flow and delivering a more vibrant look. It aims to increase the player base and encourage more adoption by layers.

CEO, Adriaan Brink said, "Coming out of the ICO in early February, we had to focus on functionality and core systems efficiency. The challenges of managing latency and scaling – particularly for in-play odds – are formidable but the distributed systems are now solid and performant. Once we had the underlying systems and APIs working efficiently, we could turn our attention to design and UX. We love the new look and the simplicity of the user interface and we are in talks with sportsbooks to come on board to support the lay side."

BETR has also developed a unique new app, @TheBETRBot on Telegram messenger. TheBETRBot is a simple, fast and fun way to use BETR tokens to place bets on Telegram. TheBETRBot has its own set of commands and features that allow users to have a conversation with the betting system in a straightforward format with minimal clicks. Each command is a self-explanatory call to action producing a menu driven conversation. The user can choose which sport and league to follow, as well as view upcoming games and instantly bet. It provides a great example of how the BETR system is designed to be used, adding disparate interfaces on top of the core API building blocks.

Dov Bechhofer on the FDA’s Announcement to Explore New Digital Health Avenues

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, USA, December 14, 2018 / — Dov Bechhofer is a computer engineer exploring how technology shapes our present and what technological advancements we can expect in the future. Recently, the FDA Commissioner announced the administration would increase its focus on digital services moving forward, which means new potentials for doctors and patients alike.

In order for doctors to unveil new treatments and for patients to have a richer variety of procedural options, they have to first be evaluated for safety by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Patients and doctors are dependent on the administration’s approval, so it’s refreshing to hear that the FDA is taking steps towards digital health contributions that will provide more sophisticated and state-of-the-art services.

Computer Engineer Dov Bechhofer keeps a close eye on emerging tech and he’s confident that the FDA’s decision to explore more digital health resources is something that can and will benefit everyone.

“We live in the future,” Dov Bechhofer says. “We have smart cars, smartphones, smart homes, and now smart cities on the rise. Smart hospitals were bound to come down the line.”

Advances in medical technology and treatments bring faster, more effective results to patients. Digital health also encompasses communication between doctors and patients, and can help to prioritize care for optimal service. Better tracking of patient conditions will make diagnosing and treating ailments easier and will require less dedicated time from busy physicians.

Soon, prescriptions may be filled through a smartphone app instead of patients having to go into a clinic to get checked out. Patients and consumers will be able to use digital health to better manage and track their health far more accurately than they can currently with wearable tech like Fitbits and iWatches.

Apart from that, the FDA is looking into advancements that will hopefully reduce inefficiencies, improve access, enhance quality, reduce costs, and make medicine and treatments more personalized for patients. Current devices will be updated to add digital features and new systems of categorization and storing medical data will be implemented.

“There’s a lot of money going into tech development,” says Dov Bechhofer. “Our devices are updating faster than ever with new capabilities and faster, more complex forms of data transfer unrolled each year. The medical industry can take advantage of this.”

The FDA will advance digital health through an official Digital Health Program that seeks to “better protect and promote public health and provide continued regulatory clarity.” It aims to accomplish this by encouraging collaborations and improving outreach to digital health customers. In addition, they will develop and implement regulatory strategies and policies for new digital health technologies.

The subject of digital health gains momentum as corporations and some of the world’s largest developers create new paths to the market. Some of the topics currently under discussion are wireless medical devices, mobile medical apps, telemedicine, new data systems, cybersecurity and more. With tech focus moving to more advanced machines and powerful systems, the FDA’s actions will be instrumental to the limits and potential of the future’s digital health.

Sean Juhl Explains How to Make the Most Out of Social Networking Over the Holidays

Promotion expert, Sean Juhl explains the best ways to take advantage of Holiday time social media marketing.

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, USA, December 14, 2018 / — The holiday season is a busy time for everyone. However, when you own a business, the season of holiday shopping is also the season to be selling. That means that your social media game must be on point. That way, it can stand out among the cornucopias of other business social media posts.

Fortunately, Sean Juhl has done extensive research on this conundrum and is generously sharing his findings with fellow business owners. Juhl knows that a business owner wears many hats. Yet, he is also aware that it is easy to take advantage of holiday time benefits through social networking.

Schedule Out Your Holiday Cheer

Having a plan is always the first step toward a successful endeavor. Planning holiday posts are no different. Scheduling out your posts in advance can help you map your holiday success. It gives you a direction to head and different aspects to look forward to. Admittedly, a business person should be planning posts ahead of time all year long. Yet, having a strategy for the season helps smooth the holiday process substantially.
Embrace the Holiday Happy Atmosphere

During the holiday season, people want to be around others who help promote their own level of cheer. That is why simply going through the motions is not good enough. People want to genuinely feel a holiday atmosphere. Therefore, instead of simply going through the motions, get into the spirit. Have fun with your social media, as well as with the remainder of your business. Add fun holiday trinkets to your emails, your newsletters and any other public form of communication. Plus, do not be afraid to enjoy some in-house holiday fun. Host an Ugly Sweater contest or take part in a Secret Santa. Do something to encourage employees to enjoy the season and it will show in their own holiday performance.

Reward Your MVP Followers with a Special Offer

Each company has those loyal followers who are always interacting with the business. They always share content, react to content and comment on posts. Plus, they patronize the business frequently. All this adds up to a couple of MVP followers. Tis the season to show appreciation. Therefore, get a list together of these MVP followers and send them a gift. This could be a coupon, a small token of appreciation, or something more creative. However, whatever is done, make sure it is exclusive. Make sure that your MVPs know they are receiving this gift because of their loyalty to your brand. This will only strengthen the relationship the person has with your business.

In summation, Sean Juhl wants all business owners to have a jolly and profitable season. That is why it is so important for business owners to utilize their social media accounts effectively. Of course, this is important throughout the year, but it is essential during the holiday season. Thankfully, these tips and tricks practically gift wrap making getting the most out of social networking over the holidays.

— K. Somner, B.C. Ministry of Health

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, USA, December 14, 2018 / — Voice technology in healthcare is not yet the ubiquitous application that we believe it will soon become. The major concerns are patient privacy, HIPAA compliance, potentially leaving confidential information unprotected and the challenge of clear voice communication in a noisy and busy clinical setting, particularly when complex medical vocabulary is required.

Many physicians use voice technology for clinical decision support and documentation in their office or home however they are much less inclined to do so in the presence of their patients.
There is a practical and affordable solution to this problem.

Talk Technologies engineers and manufactures specialized microphones (stenomasks) that allow clinicians to use speech recognition and verbally communicate in public without anyone overhearing them. Our voice isolating technology enables private transcription and verbal communication while simultaneously eliminating all background noise.

The Power of Gold on Blockchain: the first decentralized platform for gold-related blockchain projects announced

GOLD.IO presents the first inter-blockchain communicating sisterchain of EOS project creating a decentralized exchange (DEX).

CAMANA BAY, CAYMAN ISLANDS, December 14, 2018 / — GOLD.IO presents the first inter-blockchain communicating sisterchain of EOS project creating a decentralized exchange (DEX). A team of 30+ experienced developers and blockchain enthusiasts joined forces to create this project aimed at erasing the inefficiencies existing on the market and creating the new dimensions of economic freedom.
The unique opportunities of GOLD.IO stem from the endless power of gold embodied in the gold-related projects and DApps and the power of people – united under the Decentralized Autonomous Community (DAC), all the participants of the DEX will shape, rule and regulate it. From the very beginning, GOLD.IO community members will be granted with this freedom to vote and make their own decisions defining not only their own profits but the development of the project as a whole envisioning the “golden future” where each can make an impact.

Gold has been a real thrill, the only standard for currencies from the earliest days of humanity, and GOLD.IO will become the standard for exchanges.
Subject to many price manipulations, gold is still a “safe haven” for investors. Its real value lies in the simple fact that gold doesn’t follow the stocks and bonds market dynamics and is not impacted by the digital currencies’ volatility. Today, as the most promising stocks in the global markets see a catastrophic downtrend, gold is patiently waiting for its big hour. “The fear is back”, according to Goldman Sachs, and they believe that this market instability will help gold to regain its leading positions.
It’s no wonder that in this situation a number of pioneers aspired to create the “real digital gold” – crypto tokens backed by gold assets. An independent, fair exchange which harbors all the golden tokens existing is the missing element for the efficient and highly liquid gold trade and the ultimate gold price discovery.

GOLD.IO novelty architecture provides all the sought-after features of a decentralized exchange – safe, secure, and convenient. Decentralization allows to eliminate all the middlemen, so the token holders will be the only custodians of their gold.
But the real uniqueness is the power of gold – cutting-edge features of EOSIO blockchain meet here a strong community of like-minded individuals united by the idea of the “golden renaissance”. Decentralized Autonomous Community will rule and regulate itself for the common good, defining all the aspects of trade, fees, and conditions.

Each and every EOS token holder can become a part of this movement with the innovative hybrid airdrop mechanics: GIO tokens will be distributed in a number of phases with a reasonable fee applicable for their claiming, while burning the unsold tokens will only contribute to the scarcity of precious assets. In the consequent phases of distribution, it’s the GOLD.IO community itself and the very early supporters who will regulate the process.
Altogether, it will not only help to profit from gold as the unique and universal store of value but reinvent its liquidity powered by the GOLD.IO community.

Next generation of travelers uses new technologies to their timesaving advantage

MILWAUKEE, WI, USA, December 13, 2018 / — Why are so many people booking their vacations last minute? Is it all those great last-minute travel deals flooding our inboxes? Or today’s millennial travelers who are more comfortable with the technology that allows them to quickly and easily plan and book flights, hotels, rental cars and event tickets? The answer, according to research, is both.

Nearly two billion vacations were taken last year, according to the U.S. Travel Association. While conventional wisdom would suggest the vast majority of these travelers plan and book their trips a month or more in advance, a new study from advertising agency Hoffman York (HY) reveals that nearly half are doing so at the last minute. HY surveyed 888 people who took at least one overnight trip over 50 miles away for leisure purposes in the last 12 months.

Among travelers, 44 percent are planning and booking their leisure trips two weeks or less prior to their departure, with more than half agreeing that they can be swayed by last-minute deals, and 64 percent choosing to book their trips through online travel agencies.

What else defines this new-age traveler and what makes them different than other travelers? Hoffman York, an agency that specializes in travel and tourism marketing, got to the bottom of this potential travel trend.

What does it mean to be a last-minute traveler?

HY defined last-minute traveler (LMT) as a person who books transportation, lodging and event tickets for an overnight leisure trip within 0-14 days of their vacation. How long are their trips? According to the research, the average last-minute traveler spends two to three days on their trip while one in five last-minute travelers are taking trips that are five days or longer. On the contrary, most non-LMTs stay 5 or more days (44 percent).

Last-minute traveler demographics

The last-minute traveler is younger—40 percent are under 35 compared to 32 percent of non-last-minute travelers. Notably younger, 42 percent of LMTs make $50,000 or less, annually. LMTs often have children (41 percent) in the home versus 32 percent of non-LMTs.

How they book

Though the last-minute traveler is defined as someone who books within two weeks of departure, survey results show that most LMTs are actually booking within one week of their vacation. When planning and booking, 58 percent of transportation, 59 percent of lodging and 78 percent of event tickets are purchased within one week of the LMT’s departure.

What’s more, 64 percent of flights and 30 percent of hotels are booked using an online travel agency (OTA) such as Expedia, Travelocity and Priceline. Non-LMT’s use an OTA for 30 percent of flights and 25 percent of hotel bookings. Non-LMTs are more likely to book directly through an airline (46 percent compared to 24 percent of LMTs) and directly through a hotel (42 percent compared to 30 percent of LMTs).

How they get there and where they stay

Primarily, last-minute travelers use their personal vehicle (74 percent of LMTs compared to 67 percent non-LMTs). The second most popular mode of transportation for LMTs is flying (36 percent)*. Significantly more non-LMTs are flying at 57 percent.

The research showed that 67 percent of LMTs stay in hotels compared to 76 percent of non-LMTs. Many LMTs (43 percent) also stay with friends or family, compared to 34 percent of non-LMTs.

Their destinations

On average, a last-minute traveler’s destination is 580 miles from their home. A non-last-minute traveler’s destination is nearly 900 miles. As for where they are going, 42 percent of last-minute travelers vacation in cities and 31 percent visit somewhere outdoors (lake, beach, state or national park). For non-LMTs, 38 percent visit a city and 27 percent visit the outdoors. During their trips, 58 percent of last-minute travelers visit friends or family, 21 percent seek an outdoor adventure, 22 visit a historic attraction and 16 percent attend an amusement park. As for non-LMTs 48 percent visit friends or family, 25 percent seek an outdoor adventure, 32 percent visit a historic attraction and 17 percent attend an amusement park.

“Today’s new generation of last-minute travelers represents a significant segment of the overall leisure traveler population,” said Angie Buchanan, VP, Account Supervisor for Hoffman York. “How they book, where they’re going and how they go about the travel process is different from traditional vacation planners. It’s important for today’s travel and hospitality marketers to understand how and when to reach them and why they need to make the booking process fast and easy.”

Softil Predicts MCC Solutions and Services Will Finally Be Deployed to First Responders in 2019

Sagi Subocki, Softil’s Vice President, Products and Marketing

First Responder MCX deployments, dawn of “10,000 foot” view dispatch controls, dual-mode LMR/MCPTT devices, private LTE towers and much more

Softil sees 2019 as the year when MCC solutions and services finally get into the hands of First Responders be they the armed forces, police, ambulance or other emergency service groups”

— Sagi Subocki, Softil’s Vice President, Products and Marketing

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL, December 13, 2018 / — Leading IP communications enabler Softil today releases its Outlook 2019 for the Mission Critical Communications industry. For Softil, enabling Mission Critical Communications (MCC or MCX)) will be its fundamental mission for the year ahead accelerating the transition to 21st century technologies for people whose jobs help and save the lives of others.

“Softil sees 2019 as the year when MCC solutions and services finally get into the hands of First Responders be they the armed forces, police, ambulance or other emergency service groups, as well as professional radio users in the fields of transportation and mining among others,” says Sagi Subocki, Softil’s Vice President, Products and Marketing. “The year will see First Responders and professional radio users becoming better supported in their tasks through the applied use of technology.”

First MCPTT deployments by First Responders

The year 2019 will see First Responders begin supplementing the humble radio so trusted by multiple generations of firefighters, police officers and emergency workers over the years with smartphones. At first, these might also be dual-mode devices, combining LMR and LTE capabilities. Once smartphones become commonplace in MCC, all will be able to work faster and better.

Immediate future belongs to dual-mode LMR/MCPTT devices

It is nice to envision how new generation of the technology replaces the old generation in a blink of an eye – just like you see in the movies. This is not how it happens in real life – the old and new must peacefully coexist for a while. Moreover, they do not just coexist, but rather interwork. The emergency worker’s device is not an interworking appliance, but instead, it can simply allow users to be connected to both worlds – simultaneously. We should see LMR devices being extended with MCPTT capabilities first before full-blown MCX devices completely replacing them. Softil predicts that quite a few dual-mode radios will appear on the market during 2019.

Mission Critical Communications for Trains will continue to advance

Mission Critical Communications for trains, commonly referred to as LTE-R, are already deployed, but on a limited scale. Today, South Korea is leading the railway world with new MCC LTE-R terminals deployed on its high speed rail networks. However, as the standards for MCC for Railroads are in the final stages with 3GPP Release 15 providing the base, and Release 16 defining the necessary changes in architecture, Softil expects many more LTE-R trials and deployments over the next 2-3 years – especially as GSM-R (old communication technology for trains) will sunset in 2025.

Managing MCC through Dispatch Consoles

The Dispatch Console is a critical element of emergency communications – someone has to have a “10,000 foot view” of everything happening with First Responders in real time to coordinate all activities. This is where the dispatch console operator comes into play. As MCC over LTE trickles onto the front line in 2019, dispatch consoles will manage video streams, video communication, chats and more. The console will become the critical element in the interconnection of the LMR and MCX worlds and be in service before the end of 2019.

First MCC Recording solutions

It is essential to keep track of what is happening on the front line – we need to create records of all the activities of emergency workers at all times. In the past, voice and some unassociated videos were recorded, but in the new MCX world, there is a mass of data that needs to be recorded and archived. This spans audio, video, chat, location and much more from a vast array of supplementary data from “Life-saving things”, commonly known as IoT devices. The industry will see the first recording solutions appearing in 2019 as they are critical for the overall MCS umbrella.

Private LTE becomes key to advancements in MCC for Mining

In the mining industry, communication is a key element of the ecosystem and on a par with all the sophisticated machinery and tools in use. MCC over LTE new communication capabilities, such as video, chat and file exchange, offer great advantages to miners over the traditional radio. However, common LTE towers cannot provide reliable connectivity inside mines and such deployments will require private LTE. Softil expects pilot Private LTE with MCS (Mission Critical Services) setups to go into trials in 2019, with full-scale deployments in 2020/2021.

The impact of 5G on MCC will become noticeable

5G developments are advancing quickly, driven by the insatiable appetite for speed, bandwidth and full QoS/QoE spectrum of humans and machines alike. Core 5G trials are already under way around the world, but that doesn’t affect MCX at the moment. However, Softil expects to see some alignment of MCX technologies with 5G networks and architectures in the next 3GPP Release 16 (due December, 2019) and further enhancements in Release 17. The year 2021 will most likely will be the year when MCX will commercially start running on top of 5G, offering greater speeds and capabilities.

First chipsets implementing ProSe will appear, first trials of D2D

ProSe is the 3GPP standard for direct, or so-called Device-to-Device communications. This is essential for MCC as it is always possible that in the course of emergency operations, the macro network will become unreachable. In this event, First Responders must still be able to communicate with each other, so this is a critical need to make daily use of MCX over LTE possible. The year 2019 might be the year when ProSe begins its journey. However, thanks to dual-mode devices, LMR will still be there for device-to-device communications.

Voice Controls for First Responder devices will make their debut
Voice controls are not new – Siri and Alexa have been helping with everyday tasks for several years now, but as First Responder smartphones appear, Softil expects that voice controls will be elevated to the next level of importance in 2019 with commands such as “alert all my group members,” “show me the map,” “start recording my video,” and “switch my primary camera” becoming commonplace – all while wearing gloves.
