China Pushes to Expand Tech Exchanges, Coordinate Computing Power
Speaking at a State Council group study session focused on artificial intelligence, Li stressed the need for a broad push in technological innovation, industrial development, and AI applications to create new productive capacities and support high-quality economic growth.
He highlighted the importance of understanding AI trends to fully harness the technology’s potential. Li urged the formulation of forward-looking strategies for emerging technologies, the promotion of large-scale commercial applications, and improved coordination of critical resources such as data, computing power, and electricity. He also called for expanded international collaboration in technology and strengthened AI governance through updates to laws, policies, standards, and ethical frameworks.
Li further emphasized building an open, inclusive environment and developing a more extensive, multi-skilled talent pool.
The session featured a speech by Zhou Bowen, head of the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, and included participation from Vice Premiers Ding Xuexiang and Zhang Guoqing, as well as State Councilor Wu Zhenglong.
